Replacement stubby antena

Has anyone replaced the stock antena with a stubby one? Did it change the reception on the radio? What kind did you get and would you get it again?

Thanks,
BlueJackets.

I changed mine forever ago and yes it made reception massively worse. It's a good thing I don't ever listen to the radio.

I cut my stock antenna and didn't notice an appreciable difference, but I listen to local stations if the radio is used...I would expect some loss of signal range by shortening.

I pulled off the stock antenna the second I got in the driveway, when I was done with that I went after the ugly dealer's badge

In the area I'm in local stations have pretty good strength/coverage so the shorttie doesn't bother me. I keep the stock one in the smuggler's compartment so I can throw it on if I need it.

I got the stretch stubby from SoCal and with the middle size installed the reception is a bit less, but definitely tolerable. Certainly not worse than our Montana, which has the antenna built into the windshield. I do most of my traveling on the highway, and you notice it most when trying to pick up distant stations. I have no problems at all with stations reasonably close.
