Smile Right Rear Door

Has anyone else had problems with the right rear door? I rented an HHR while my Vue was in the shop. I liked it so much I bought my own. The right rear door didn't close completely on the rental. I have noticed that the same thing happens on mine. My wife and I were driving down the road the other day and saw a very nice black HHR, and guess what, the right rear door was not closed completely.

I haven't had any problems with any of my doors. I have a 6yo who gets in and out of the back seat all the time with no problems.

No issues with that here. They do have good seals, maybe the door is not getting closed firmly enough.

Try and determine WHY it's not closing tightly.

Try rolling the frt. passenger or drivers window down about an inch or 2. Then try closing the right rear door. If the problem is not present, then it's just air compression preventing the door from closing properly.....a little more effort will resolve the issue.

If the door still doesn't close properly BUT IS IN ALIGNMENT, try lubricating the hinges and lock mechanism with a DRY LUBRICANT.....I use Super Lube Dry Teflon Spray.

Had, what seems to be, the same problem with the drivers rear door. Lube and "cracking" the window solved my problem.

Got to be the inside air pressure, have the same issue with my rear left door. Find that if I leave the front door open or crack a window open closes no problem. Watch your sun roof if you have one and you will see what I mean. Hope this helps. Air tight vehicle.

Sometimes the rear driver's side door needs a little extra umph when closing it on mine.

Thank you for the responses. I will try it. I just think it is funny that I have seen it happen on 3 different vehicles. The right rear door is the only one that it happens to. the other doors all close well.

Shmoo.....

The sun roof is a good point. It's funny how it "bounces" when you slam the door. A good indication of air compression.

Wow! I thought it was just my Mother not closing the door all the way. She always has to close it twice, when getting stuff outta the back seat. Next time, I'll open a window a little and see what happens.
