I did the test this morning as both my rear doors would sometimes not close all the way unless you give them a little shove. With one of the front doors open there was no problem at all shutting either of the rear doors...close the front door and sometimes the rears will not close all the way...appears pressure is the culprit here

I just got my HHR back from the dealer. They stated that the right rear door is aligned properly and the seal is good. They are not sure why that door is the only one this happens too. They are going to contact GM. They have had 6 come in with the same problem.

If it's the inside air pressure, why wouldn't the front doors suffer from the same ailment? After all, I'm sure everyone has taken a solo ride in their HHR, and no one has ever complained about the driver's door being difficult to close.

I think that if you were to try the door that is hard to close from the outside and got in the car and try to close it, it will close better from the inside. Hard for a door to not close when your pulling it closed then letting it bump back from air.

I cleaned out my car before taking it to the carwash and closed the back doors several times. I had no problem with them.

But one thing you have to consider is the weight of the back doors. They are very small and very light. Even the glass in the front doors is larger, adding more weight. Even a little air pressure inside can affect how they close.

I would suggest you make sure the front doors are closed last to eliminate this problem.

Cool

I have always had this issue but didn't really think too much of it. I just give it a little extra muscle & it shuts fine.

so to answer your ?, YES, I have this issue also...seems to be an 'HHR thing'...

That is a good point. I do find my rear doors a little harder to close than the fronts sometimes, but that was also the case with my Mazda Protege 5 as well.
