Chevymgr, I maybe missing something here, if this is standard
equipment on all non-SS HHRs built since 8/27/2007, why does'nt
my 08 2lt have one?

 

Look at the sticker on the drivers door and see when it was assembled. The 08 models are assembled in mid-late 07 so it just depends. There will be a month/year on the sticker, usually on the upper right corner.

My 08 was assembled in 10/07 and it has the guard installed.

 

GM doesn't care about their customers bottom line once you leave the lot they don't care.

 

ummm maybe a deviant stole it? I can't tell you why it's not there unless your '08 was built before 8/27/07 might be an explanation.

 

I say that statement is too general and your experience with them doesn't represent GM as a whole, and that's my 2¢.

Got mine installed this morning.....it finally came in......

 

About two years ago I bought and installed a radiator screen that was sold by Danchuk, a classic chevy supplier.

the screen didn t cover the entire condenser... but most of it.

Went to ACE hardware and bought a large piece of metal cloth, about 10 feet of convoluted pastic tubing (split) i think 1/4 or 3/8" and 3" spot ties.

i used this to build a an oversized radiator screen for our pickup.

cut the metal to the appropriate size

bend each corners over about 1/2 inch
start the tubing on the bottom... somewhere in the middle

after the split tubing is all the way around... cut it to fit and secure the tubing with spot ties about every 6 inches...

I used blue tarp push on gromets... found a place that i could attach the screen with longer spot ties. punched holes in tje screen and attached with the spot ties.

the split tubing makes it look fairly good. maybe not as good as a factory produced piece.

 

purchased my first new chevy in 1972 (vega wagon) after two years of dealing with the local GM dealer. it was nearly 16 years before i looked at another GM product... loved the vega... yes it was a vega but the service s cked. the service manager called me liar after having another GM dealer look at my car to see how the first mechs that worked on it screwed it up. they had misalined the timing belt when replacing the head gasget.

When the sales manager called in 1989 (father in law told them i was looking for a new car) we had a very very long discussion about the dealership.

we ended up buying a Celebrity wagon... anyone remember the stalling problem... for about five months we were taking the wagon in... "mr reeves, we can not find or duplicate your problem" until i brought in a PM Smoky Says artical that had the GM TBS. If i hadn't found that artical, i would still be fighting with them. and yes the dealer had Good Wrench plaques ALL over the walls.

The HHR is the first new GM car i have purchased since 1989, and not from our local dealer. Not all GM dealer are equal and there are some really good ones and some really rotten ones... if you go to the internet complaints sites... you would think that every car sold s ck. preception is reality. joan wanted the HHR (ive learned to love it), i wanted a pt... because she is the designate driver we got what she wanted. i know i am whipped

if there had been an internet in 1970 i wonder how our chevy malibu would rate... it is a hunk of junk but it is our hunk of junk
