Installed Radiator Shield
Thanks to everyone for the good info. Just got my Radiator shield installed by the local Chevy dealer at No charge along with the front storage modification and my rear Bowtie due to corrosion. My lower Billet Grille should be here today and will install this weekend. Any tips on the installation, or is it pretty easy?

Very easy to install. Brands vary on installation. But seems all are very simple to do. I never got the GM guard, but billet piece has been on there for a long time now.

Radiator replacment
I'm going to be changing out a radiator for a friend of mine with a 2006 HHR (took a rock and the dealer wanted over $700 to fix it). I haven't been able to locate a Hayne's or Chilton's repair manual for these, is the removal simple as I expect (pull hoses, disconnect fan, a few bolts holding the radiator in), or is it more complicated?

On long trips I always use a nose bra but you never know when a rock or debris will get you locally.
Even though I have a SS I made me a radiator protector out of fiberglass mesh screen and old black vinyl material staples and velcro.
It keeps junk out the radiator and engine run cool.
I did the same for my 62 Corvette, partially to keep the bugs out and to dull down the appearance of a non painted aluminum radiator.

I have a 2010 that just got its radiator destroyed and condenser bent upon striking a raccoon in the road. I'm thinking this may help prevent a recurrence, but I have a couple of questions:
1) Didn't someone say this is already standard on models after 2007? All I saw on mine is flimsy plastic in front of the radiator.
2) I can't really tell from these photos what exactly the part is.
Any help appreciated.

Yes, It’s a flimsy plastic thing, meant more for the occasional rock, not a raccoon!
It is a guard with horizontal black plastic lines (I shudder to call them “bars” as that makes them sound strong).
I have a 2008 with it installed and it has keep mine from damage but I’ve luckily avoided wildlife so far!

I have the oem plastic guard on my '08, really cheesy imo..
So I added Gutter-Guard to my lower opening. But I bolted mine in.. I can remove it easily.
But more importantly, it will stay in place if it takes a hit..Should act like a net catching anything....
I don't care if it gets deformed, long as it saves the condenser & rad...
Here's a link about it: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...t=gutter+guard
