If the pad is seperate, glued or attached otherwise, why would you expect an entire new set of boards to correct the issue?
If you got a flat, would you buy another rim to go with your repaired/replaced tire?

I don't expect a new set of boards...all I want is for the pads to be replaced that are bowed on both sides. BB...I'm sure your comment was not directed at me...but the other member who chimed in.

I thought it unusual too that they were replacing the entire board.. I just wanted a new pad! As I stated in my earlier post... the dealership said at the time the pad was not available seperately... that was a year ago..

GM ain't too swift when it comes to replacement parts vs. assemblies.

Example: Last year I took mine in for the A/C "growl" issue with a copy of the TSB. They had to order (typical no stock policy!) the hose ass'ys and called when they were in. After the work was done and I got home, I looked to see just what was replaced and found the air filter ass'y loose. Found ripped grommets and called back. Service manager said "No problem" that the grommets would be ordered. Guess what, GM does NOT offer the rubber grommets, only the two halves of the air filter ass'y! Service mgr. got upset and I told him that if GM was THAT dumb, to order both housing pieces just to get the grommets and charge GM under warranty. Done!!

WARNING!!! If you want to change your air filter, BE VERY CAREFUL with those grommets (2 in back; 1 in front), otherwise you may end up paying about $100.00 for some little grommets!!

To replace one running board damaged in an accident the body shop needed to order the whole installation kit (both boards and hardware)

I just installed my boards and the pad had the clips that had to be hammered into place. I'll keep my eye on em.

Smoke is going into the dealer tomorrow for an oil change and they are going to take a look at them while he is there. I will let you know what they say when I get him back.

No Deb, it wasn`t directed at you, just saw another post, seemed strange.
You know with the stuff people expect from the dealer/mfg., no wonder cars are so expensive. Somebodies got to pick up the tab.

I think there has been a slight misunderstanding. I NEVER asked for them to replace the running boards. I was simply sharing my experience. I did NOT want the board to be replaced. However, at the time of repair the dealership indicated that is what had to be done. In addition to replacing the broken one, they gave us the opposite side. It was just what I experienced, was not suggesting this is what Deb should ask for or that it was an appropriate repair. Just what the dealership did.

Please forgive me for sharing what I have experienced
