According to the dealer, the pads are not glued down. They have tabs that fit into the running boards in various places. Apparently there are 3 different versions...all just a little dirrerent.

1. Factory boards that came with the car painted to match.

2. After factory boards that came painted to match, but were made slightly different and required a different pad than the factory boards. (These are the ones that are on "SMOKE" now)

3. After factory boards that come only unpainted and need to be done by the dealer or whoever they use for their paint work. These apparently are different yet from #1 & #2 above and have yet another configuration and pad than the other two.

Not sure what the deal is with Retroburban's boards. I suppose it's possible that there was a set laying around in Sport Metallic Red and they decided to ship those. Definitely a mind boggling thing when it comes to these boards.

biggest thing about paint and why they have you come in is so that they can match it perfectly, not just the paint code. there are varients

OK...got Smoke back from the dealer with his new boards and he thinks he's pretty special. The new ones look great and the pads appear to be thinner than the ones I had before. We'll see how they hold up. Here's some pics I took after I picked him up.

Having mine replaced now as well the weather in dallas is getting hotter so the drivers side started to lift in two places. The dealer said that a couple of the clips had broken so they are ordering the pad for me.

Sorry I don't have picture's as they were installed for me. But I'm sure you could switch back & fourth if you like. I don't for see that as being that hard of a problem. But I def. understand on your salt concerned.
