Same here about the salesman. He told me I had the side air bags, nope, don't have them. He also said if I start the car with the remote, if it's cold outside, the heater would come on, and if it's hot outside, the air conditioner would come on. Where do they get these salesman at?

vschriver there is another option besides running boards, you can have some 3M clear laminate installed on the problem areas.

P.S. Last year on this board in a similar thread I suggested that the sand blasting issue kind of sounded like grounds for a Class Action suit against GM by effected owners (virtually everyyone who bought an HHR without running boards). Settlement sought after would be just have GM pay for or re-imburse for boards and install expense. It didn't go over too well on the forum, though.

Is the 3M clear installed at the dealership? Because they are willing to give the stuff to me at cost with free installation I'll take them up on it.

Customer Satisfaction Line - Sandblasting

Hi Everyone,
I am new on here, want to thank you for having this forum, it actually explained more to me about my car issues than the dealership could. I have been on the exact same road as everyone else on this thread...but my biggest disappointment was not in them telling me I had to pay money to prevent it from happening again in the future but rather not being able to understand a word they were saying. Their customer service is in Argentina. Sheez, if you get "Ashely O'Brian" as your rep she sounds like an alien on the machine and never returns a phone call. After about 6 weeks of telling her to call my work number and her calling my home instead, I asked for a US rep... I was told I had to keep calling back until I happened to get lucky because the line randomly sends the calls to US and Argentina. I said I wanted a direct number, so I was given the number to Saab to call and believe it or not it put me through to US Chevy reps. Go figure!

Anyway, my car is an '08 and they still have not addressed this issue, mine had about 2K miles when the paint started getting chipped. I was told same thing we paint once you prevent it from happening again. I took a different approach. I told them I was fine with anything being done to prevent it but I was not fine with the "one time fix" thing, that I wanted their assurance they would take care of it if it happened again, after all they are expecting me to pay money on a new car for an "accessory" to prevent further damage. How do I know this will really prevent it? Bada Bing... everything covered!!! :)

Good luck to everyone in dealing with them, be nice, attitude gets you no where, and be logical but firm. Explain to them what you feel and why. When you bought the car if you were told you had to buy the running boards to prevent the paint from being destroyed you would have had four options at that time. 1. Be stupid and ignore the warning. 2. Buy the running boards. 3. Negotiate a discount on the running boards. or 4. Walk away and not buy the car. Obviously 4 is no longer an option.

My take on it is if they were honest and told me this... I would have chosen number 4, I don't like being forced into anything. Now me walking away may have prompted number 3 to take place, but I don't think so, I don't think I would have the car today. Since this is HONESTLY the case for me, I don't think I should have to buy running boards to keep my car that was sold to me as it was from being damaged. But if number 1 or 2 is your honest answer you shouldn't expect Chevy to do much more than they are offering. If number three is your answer stay focused, polite and firm and file a BBB complaint and I think you will find some "meet in the middle policy". Getting totally off the hook takes a bit more, like having bought nine new chevys from the same dealer maybe. I don't know. I don't personally like the HHR at all, I wish they had been up front and honest and we had walked away. My husband on the other hand, loves the vehicle...so what can you do? It just isn't for me, yet I am the one stuck driving the thing everyday!

Have a good holiday weekend and everyone be safe. Thanks for letting me type on here.

Sunny

This is actually true. The key is you have to have the fan turned on. In winter, it will even turn on the read defroster. One of the reasons my mpg's always dropps in the winter!
