Unhappy Scraped curb with painted aluminum rims.

I scraped a curb with my driver side front 16" silver painted aluminum rim. The damage is only cosmetic to the paint.

I found some instructions on how to fix it here: http://dc5nation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1832

I searched and cannot determine the paint code or color for the 16" silver painted aluminum rims on the 2007 HHR.

Does anyone know where I can get paint to match?

Thanks.

Very nice Step by Step, It looked like it work very well viewing from my end. I have the same problem but I have the 17" High Polished Rims and they are $567.00 new from the Dealership and $149.00 on E-bay as used reconditioned.

I put a nice ugly scratch in my polished aluminum wheel a week after I got the car. I found a guy that comes to your location and repairs wheels. if I remember right it was about $65. Not too bad considering the cost of a new wheel.

That's a great article!

I've had to do this a number of times over the years.

The hard part is going to be to find a good paint match!

I know Dupli-Color has a generic silver wheel paint and clearcoat, but have no idea how good of a match it is to the HHR paint. You could take a chance and spray a sample on something else, then hold it up to the wheel and see if the match is good.

Another option is to just take it to a good body shop. They can both match the paint and have the skills and experience to do a great job. Still much less than GM wants for their overpriced wheels.

If it's difficult to match the paint, why not get a custom paint job on all 4 wheels. That can't be more expensive than purchasing 4 new ones!

Thanks for all the responses. The web site dbfruth mentioned indicates there is a person in my area. I may try that if the price is right.
Thanks again.
