Scratches on my Window Tint

Has anyone ran into scratches on their window tint of their HHR. I plan to remove my door panel and see whats going on. Can anyone tell me if there is an area inside the Panel that causes this.. I

I don't get scratches, but I do get a nasty grease/oil on the drivers side that I have to periodically clean off.

It could be something as simple as dirt trapped in the window "felt", when you pull the door panel carefully clean the felt, and you'll probably cure the problem. Unfortunately the tint will still be scratched unless you replace it.

I took the door panel off (Had to replace Power lock Switch anyway) I pulled the felt off and wiped it all down. I have a Warranty on my tint and the shop said they would remove the tint and replace for free. But he said if it happens again on the windows I would have to pay cause it is an issue with the door.

They are a great tint shop and have been a customer for years..

Dirt/dust/debris gets trapped in the felt and scratches on tint are the result. Of course untinted windows are not affected.

Some folks will remove the inner felt with aftermarket tinted windows, but that almost guarantees that the glass will either rattle like mad, or it will eventually work itself out of the channel when you least need it to happen...think monsoon rain with the window down.

I had the beginning of a vertical scratch on my drivers window (obviously from something inside the door panel) about 2 months after I had the tint done. After going back to the tint place I found out they went out of business....I was even going to pay to have it corrected and redone.

Anyhow, it has gotten more pronounced after about 5+ years. Might need to go elsewhere.

my panel I tinted right after buying it & no scratching to date..

However my former '98 S-10 that I tinted & after a few yrs was getting the beginnings of scratches on driver side. I just took my air hose & shot air down between the felts & glass inside..

No further scratching occured. Was just some trapped dirt it seems.

So periodically I use the air hose on my panel fr glass/felts.
