Seatbelt Warning chime not working

Seatbelt Warning chime not working
OK friends your wonderful advice is really needed here!
Yesterday, I noticed the seat belt indicator signal (the sound, not the dashboard light indicator) did not make a sound. I thought it was odd.
So, when I got out of the car, I did not know the lights were on because the "lights are on" warning did not sound off this morning.
When I went back out this afternoon, the battery was DEAD. Got a jump and all seems well. But is this an precursor of things falling apart?
Oh, yeah, it is about 123,000 miles if that helps any...

Posting moved to a more appropriate section.
X2 what Ron S said as to the cause of the issue.
Rather than manually control the headlights, why not use the automatic feature where they turn on/off automatically?

I'm retacting my "rush to judgement" comment from post #6, a case of typing before all of the caffeine molecules had found their respective brain cells.
My thought was more along the lines of not making assumptions or judgements on new members right off the bat.
Referencing the PM's that I get from new folks here, there are times when they are reluctant to make follow-up posts because they feel picked on or intimidated.
