security horn disable

I have repaired the key fobs numerious times. I do not want to buy a new one.
How do I disable the horn, when I open the door with the key?

There will be times (Dead battery in Key Fob) you will need to unlock using the key.

To disarm the alarm using the key:
. . . 1st turn left and unlock
. . . 2nd lock the door. Locking disarms the alarm.
. . . 3rd unlock the door.

you can now open the door without setting off the alarm

To arm without the Key Fob, just power lock the doors using the control beside the door handle.

Thanks 843de, I was wondering how not to wake my neighbors. My keyfob contacts barely work. Replaced battery and solder is good. I ordered a new casing, hopefully have tomorrow.

If it is just that your contacts inside are dirty - give them a cleaning with some alcohol and a q=tip, and/or check https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-tutorial-library-21/repair-key-fob-remotes-worn-out-contacts-30813/ - I rebuilt my fobs almost 2 years ago, and they are still going strong.

You can also order a replacement keypad on the internet.

Thanks whopper, that is on my list of things to do. Already tried the alcohol cleaning. Using a old remote to repair is on the list. Thanks again, Jim

New remote case and rubber inside came today. Ebay $2.50 shipped! Awesome. I love eBay.

I followed the above directions and it worked once.
Unlocking this way, with the key, works less then half the time.

My experience is: use the key to lock then use the key to unlock no alarms. Use any other method to lock then unlock with key causes alarm. YMMV.
