Why wouldn't you take it to a dealer and have it fixed for free? If it is the solenoids it's powertrain.

Dealer stated solenoid was an external engine part and not covered under warranty, but claimed GM has had a lot of problems with the solenoids. Claimed it was NOT covered under warranty, but he was being nice and covered it anyway.

Or like ChevyMgr says - do the dealer thing if they will do it for free.
You can reset the CEL and the hard shifting condition, by disconnecting the NEGATIVE battery terminal under the trunk floor and reconnecting it.
