"Service ESC" message
I am having an issue with my 2008 HHR LT. Several months ago it started applying the traction control or ESC to wheels as I was going down the road. Started out of No where. It was like it was trying to correct the braking intermittently. Very nerve racking at first. Looked online and said to just reset ESC at dash button. But now this happens every time I drive away. I get up to 10-15 mph and ESC kicks i trying to control brakes or steering and I have to push dash reset button. Tried to remember the day it started and the only thing I can remember that may have done anything was I left a friends house that has a steep driveway and I was not careful enough and it bottomed out the front end when I left. Not long after it started. Please help. I am first time poster/ Love my HHR. 78,000 miles

Welcome to the site. You would be better served If you had started your own thread.
Have had your brakes looked at by a competent mechanic?
Things I'm thinking from 1500 miles away:
brake pads/linings worn out
leaking brake fluid
bad hub/bearings or wheel speed sensors (all one part).
Anyways, you need to get a "free" brake inspection at a tire store. This could be dangerous and at least needs to be looked at by somebody that has a clue. If you get warnings from your car it wants you to take care of it, kinda like a wife!

Welcome to the site. To me it sounds like you have a wheel speed sensor starting to fail. You will have to get the codes read by someone that can get codes out of the abs system. If a wheel speed sensor intermittently reads different than the other wheels when going down the road the traction control and or the abs will try and correct that wheel by releasing or applying the brake to that wheel. With a scan tool that can read the abs it can be pin pointed fairly easy. In the meantime you can disable the traction control by turning it off each time you start the can.
