Question Shift Light Question...

I don't know if there is a topic on this already, But i was reading through the owners manual and i was curious about that symbol on the dash, the one that looks like a tire with a cross in it...Come to find out it's a shift lite and i have never once seen it come on...Was just wondering if it was suppose to come on or if it's just there for looks...Thanks all...

i had one on my Dadge D-50 turbo diesel and never used it or noticed it. been driving a stick since i was 14 and didnt really see why one would need a shift light

most of the time they come on when u hang in a lower gear for a while and the rpms just stay high.

to me they really serve no function.

Well yea i've been driving a standard for quite some time now and i really don't care if it's there or not, but the wife is all worried about it...The owners manual says that it will light at the time you should shift to save gas...
