SMOKE In The Shop

Well...the dealership called and they were shorthanded today, so they didn't get to my HHR. One of the guys who does the engine code diagnostics was out sick today, so they were way behind. I went after work and they got me set up with a rental until I get my car back. Went to Enterprise Leasing and they said they had 2 cars for me to pick from. One was a 2008 Cobalt and the other a PT Cruiser I told them that I could not drive the Cruiser, as my HHR friends would never forgive me. Then another lady came up and said that since my car was in for warranty work at Century Chevrolet, that they had to put me in the Cobalt which was fine with me. It's a white 4 door with about 3500 miles on it and it drives great...but is definitely not my HHR. They said had I gotten there earlier in the afternoon, they could have put me in an HHR, but it had just gone out a couple hours before. Oh well...I'll enjoy the Cobalt until I get my Smoke back.
Will keep you guys update on what they find and get any codes they might share with me. Will take pics of my new ride tomorrow...was too dark to do that tonight by the time I was done.

Thanks for the udate, sorry to hear of your predicament.
Since the HHR has only been out for a couple of years, I'm sure we and Chevy will be learning about the cars endurance and what type of problems may manifest themselves. Some may have a greater frequency than others and lead to TSBs etc.
Makes me wish we had held off a year for the ones with the longer warranty. But still, we all got that extra year to be with this fun car. It's just that some days are better than others. May tomorrow be your better day

Although true, what the longer warranty covers, is what I am the least concerned about having problems with. It's powertrain only. The motor has already been proven. I have not heard of one issue with the manuals either. The auto's, only the stuck key issue.

There is definitely something weird going on with my HHR. As you know, mine is really low miles (11,273 when it went on the truck). It is below a 1/4 of a tank on fuel, but I was on my way to the station to fill him up when this transpired. I supposed maybe it could have sucked something up from the bottom of the tank and plugged up the injectors...it's hard to say. I even left early to do that too.
Hopefully I'll get some word later today and I'll let you know what they say.

Damn.. I wish they did that here... I had to drive my friend's secondary vehicle while mine was in, which was an old busted up GMC Sierra. The exhaust brackets were broken, so everytime I hit a bump they rattled, plus the exhaust had a leak, so at a stoplight I could get high on the fumes if I wanted to. It sucked.

Ok folks...got Smoke back this evening and here's the scoop. Will put on here what the work order said that they gave to me.
Customer states engine lite is flashing and vehicle has reduced power.
Code P0300 - found faulty ignition module - refer to bulletin PIP34330 for ignition module replacement and plugs. Replaced ignition module and plugs - check ground G1103 - clear codes and test drove.
Parts (1) 12580215 module 2.383 and (4) 12598004 Spark Plugs 2.270
Car is running great and runs like a charm. While the Cobalt was nice, I sure am glad to have my Smoke back. With my dealer, if they are going to have the car overnight, they always give their customers a rental....but if it's for the day they don't do that. However, they do have a shuttle and take me to work and pick me up when it's there for the day. Works for me.

Sounds like your technician did the right thing, Deb.
Typically the P0300 code indicates a misfire (I'm told) and generally is related to the ignition wires, "coils" and finally the plugs. having only 11,000 miles on the plugs is kind of questionable. But, heck it was covered under warranty and changing them is a good precaution.
