A misfire could possibly damage the plugs, so changing them out makes sense. I think the ignition module and coil assembly had some major problems on the Gen I Ecotec 2.2 and the switchover to the 2.4-style coil-on-plug ignition for '07 solved those problems. Usually the coil pack and cover assembly would crack and cause malfunctions.

In fact, now that I think about it, some people who've installed CGS intakes have had this problem because of how the bracket mounts on the 2.2 and it's real easy to crack the coil pack/cover assembly. I believe that's one reason why CGS didn't approve it for the Gen I 2.2 engine. You might want to check the new pack/cover and make sure they didn't crack it too when they reinstalled the CGS.

Customer states engine lite is flashing and vehicle has reduced power.

Code P0300 - found faulty ignition module - refer to bulletin PIP34330 for ignition module replacement and plugs. Replaced ignition module and plugs - check ground G1103 - clear codes and test drove.

Parts (1) 12580215 module 2.383 and (4) 12598004 Spark Plugs 2.270

Car is running great and runs like a charm. While the Cobalt was nice, I sure am glad to have my Smoke back. With my dealer, if they are going to have the car overnight, they always give their customers a rental....but if it's for the day they don't do that. However, they do have a shuttle and take me to work and pick me up when it's there for the day. Works for me.
Thank You for the details. It will be a lot of help if others run into this (and it sounds like we might), At least it did not require major overhaul and was for the most part a quick fix once they got around to it.
