The wife took her 2007 in about a month and a half ago they supposedly repaired it but it is making the same noise again. It will have to go back again. We will use a different dealer this time.

After another trip in...

Went and picked up my HHR after being in for the steering column. They had to order the part and have to go back in on Friday. As an added bonus they got a big greasy stain on the drivers seat, now they have to steam clean that. One thing after another with this place

OK I have vented.

Good lord, I would be getting pretty pissed at this point too! what is up with those guys? Are they a real small dealer? I woulda thought most of them stock the column by now.

The first thing any dealer does is slip a plastic cover over the seat.

Update

Prod, if they had done that I would have been extatic.

Went to pick up my HHR for the third time today and the service manager says "we fixed the noise you brought it in for but when we test drove it after changing the column we created a new noise".

So now instead of a clunking/rattle when driving, we have a click-click sound as the steering wheel is being turned.

Has anyone here ever experienced this one?

ummm... no. Sounds like they didn't install the column right. Sorry to hear of your trouble

Finally fixed

Well after having the car for a week it is fixed up right.

The clicking noise while turning the steering wheel turned out to be a turn signal assembly that was damaged while installing the column.

Thanks for the input everyone.
