Something strange

Today when I started the HHR it started as usual then as I was putting my seat belt on it stalled.

I finished clicking the belt and hit the switch again and it would not start. It was cranking fine just not starting.

I poked the DIC button a few times and got no codes no Check Engine, nothing.

Not knowing what else to do I opened the hood and looked at the fuse box up there then looked at the fuse box by the passengers seat.

Naturally I could see nothing wrong.

So I scratched my head a while and tried to start it again. It fired right up no problem. So I put the belt back on and went on my merry way.

I decided to swing by the Auto Zone store and have them put the code reader on it. {its free even if you don't buy anything}

There were no codes stored at all. Like I said I just went on my way like I normally would, shutting the engine off and starting several times and no problems at all.

So with no problems that can be detected I'm just a tad worried that there is something really wrong that will rear up and bite me soon.

I'll keep y'all posted if something does come up.

I'm thinking maybe fuel pump or it's power supply. Just for kicks.Pull the fuse and/or relay and reinsert. You may have a bad connection.

My scanner recomends to leave it connected and drive as it will show some codes that will not be stored, I have done it several times it would show a mystery code and not store it.

Just for fun I pulled and reseated all the fuses and relays.

The problem has not repeated itself so its probably nothing to worry about at all.

Just enough to keep me interested I guess.

It may not have read the ignition key correctly, or at all. I have had mine do that a couple of times, pulling the key out, re-inserting it and it has always started right up. Not sure how great a reader that switch has.

Odd for sure, but its one of those "Might never do it again" deals, I'm with Laco here in thinking that it didn't read the key correctly for some reason.

I don't own a scanner myself. Too pricy to justify for no more than I would be likely to use it.

Unless the car is dead on the side of the highway and and I was trying to figure out what was wrong before the tow truck got there I don't see a real need for one.

So far it has been easy enough to go to Auto Zone or the dealer we bought the car from, when I decide to look for a code.

So far I really haven't had any problems. The first time I had them hook it up I was just curious if there were any lurking around and there was nothing out of the ordinary.

I have however looked at a GM tech 2 because your supposed to be able to tell the car to accept a different GM radio if you want but again so far that's just too much money for me to part with.

I had one incident about 1 1/2 years ago. I stopped at a stop sign and the engine died. It would restart but immediately stall. After a few cycles of start/stall it was fine and it never happened again.
