Squeak from rear area of car-interior

Just wondering who else has noticed and rectified the issue of a squeaky noise at the back of the car. I think it may be the tail-gate hinges, but a real loose, non-tight feel and squeaky noise everytime I go over a bump, slight curb etc

Could be that the rear gate needs adjusted....... Mine makes a little bit of noise on occasion and it sounds like the striker posts (or whatever the proper term is....) in the latch need to be adjusted.

I had it too, now resolve

Dealer readjusted the rear gate and made the noise in my HHR go away. It was one of two noises they fixed at the same visit (the other was in the dashboard). The one coming from the rear gate had been a high-pitched squeaking noise.

The hatch maybe latched but not secured firmly - kind of like those people you drive by on the road who don't have their passenger doors closed properly. you can tell by lightly pushing on the hatch - if it moves it's not latched firmly. I think with all the windows rolled doesn't help when closing the hatch but....

A good push (but not too hard - thin sheet metal) helps to latch it firmly. should help with the majority of the squeaks.

The squeaks are the weatherstrip at the hatch area rubbing against the hatch as the unibody flexes or when we roll over a bump. I cleaned the weatherstrip and redressed it with 303 and which also helped to reduce the squeaking.
