Stalled while driving
Bought my 2006 HHR a few months ago; 3 days ago while driving on the interstate going about 60, my car just cut off, no warning no nothing. Thankfully I was able to pull over onto the shoulder and about 5 minutes later it started up. Took it to the shop, and they couldn't find anything wrong, so my dad took it to his mechanic, still nothing. Has anyone had this problem? I'm a mother of two that drives 35 miles one way to work, so I'm not feeling real comfortable about what happened.

sort of surprised that no one came forth yet. Just off the top of my head, I am thinking ignition switch since they seem to be the big topic lately. If you call your chevy dealer and give him your vin, he should be able to tell you if your is on the list. Many owners are getting a letter from GM that sort of says to call the dealer about replacing the ignition lock cylinder and the potential problems with it.

Good advice there. Also, if you have a mess of stuff hanging from your ignition key, take it off - a few people have had problems when they load up their key chain with a lot of weighty stuff. The Key, the fob, and a couple extra keys shouldn't cause a problem.

The ignition issues that the campaign is because of is for not being able to shut off the car so I do not think this is related to that campaign. That does not, however, rule out a faulty ignition switch but I myself, would not focus all my efforts into the ignition switch being the culprit.
When the engine shut off, did you still have power for everything else or did you loose ALL power? It sounds like whatever it is needed a 5 minute break to cool down before it would operate again. Things like the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump itself can exhibt these issues. Just a thought.

Yes, I stilll had power to everything (lights, radio, although I shut them off). I don't have alot of keys or things on my key ring, only the car key, door key, and the remote (my dad has always told me to keep my car key ring clear of junk).

I'm scheduled to take it to the dealer on Friday. My check engine light came on about 3 weeks ago, but then it went off but I didn't have any problems. When my car stalled, nothing came on, the car just quite running but started up shortly after.

OK when that CEL came on it stored codes, your dealer can pull them even though the light hasn't come on again.
One thing you can do is to make sure each and ever fuse and relay in the under-hood fuse box is seated, HHR's have a habit of vibrating them loose over time leading to some odd symptoms.
