Steering column noise

Steering column noise
First off, thank you to everyone who helped me out with front end problems, most issues have been resolved. Currently I'm getting a loud rattle in the steering column that appears to be coming from directly behind the steering wheel. Having just replaced the intermediate steering shaft I'm assuming that the column assembly needs to be replaced, I'm also experiencing some whining when turning the wheel at lower speeds. These are the part numbers I've been able to find: 19368293 for the assist motor, and 19209158 for the column kit with jacket. Would like to know if anyone has experienced this issue and if these numbers are correct for a 2007 LT with 5 speed. Thank you.

Are you aware of the lifetime extended warranty on the power steering motor?
Has the ignition switch recall been done?
I would take the steering wheel off and lay eyes on the innards before I started buying parts.

I was unaware of the extended warranty but I did get the updated ignition switch a few years ago. I'll give the innards of the column another look but couldn't determine anything the first time. I've been told there is a plastic spacer of some kind that is notorious for failing but cannot be replaced as a separate piece. Thank you for the suggestions, I'll dig deeper.
