I seem to be having the same problem. Last week i noticed the knocking noise on the driver side. I took the car in and they replaced the steering shaft but the noise is still there. Any suggestions????

I have a knocking noise in the steering column, but only when the interior of the HHR is cold. Once the heater warms up the interior, the knock goes away.

While driving along and it's making the noise, if I put upward pressure on the steering wheel, the noise stops.

Mine does it regardless of what i hit at any speeds. I called the dealer and it's going in tomorrow to have it checked out and also replace the rear windshield wiper switch. It only works intermitently

So I brought the HHR in to the dealer 2 days ago and they replaced the steerig shaft. Low and behold the noise continued but the steering got the tighter if that makes any sense. I took it back and they gave me a rental because they said it was the front bushings that need repleaced which of course they dont have. Hopefully this will correct the problem. I'll keep you guys updated

So I got the car back this morning and sure enough that noise is still there. Needless to say getting "Upset" I brought it back to the dealer and they cant do anything about it because the service department is closed weekends. I noticed that the noise is more under the pedals and it clicks more when turning. This will be strike 3 for the same thing. Any suggestions. I think Ive had it with this

Already did. It states that if you bring in the car in for the same problems 5 times then I can claim it under the lemon law. On monday it will be the third time

There may also be a clause for total days in for repair.

Sounds like you're on top of it though.

Besides trying another dealer, I think you're doing all you can at this point. I understand the frustration you're going through though. By law, ya gotta give them (GM) a fair chance to fix the problem.
