Sticking valve

Hey everyone,

I have 43,000 miles on my 2011 HHR. Took into dealer for the ignition recall and check engine light. Service calls me the next day and says sticking valve on cylinder one. Is this common on this with only 43,000 miles? It's covered by GM, so no out of pocket for me. I'm a little concerned what's next?

Thanks!

No. Not common at all. Especially with that low of miles.

If it was me, I would prod them a little for a more thorough explanation of exactly what and how they determined it was a "sticking valve". I would want them to be sure before having to pull the cylinder head to fix it. Regardless of the fact it's covered by the power train warranty.

(cd1954. So. Did you ever get your compass figured out? You know, it's a courtesy thing around here to follow up and respond to threads you start.)

I didn't know there was a code for "sticking valve cylinder #1". So, no, you are the first.

This has absolutely nothing to do with a recall, so I'm re titling it.
