Thanks for the clarification. That is all beginning to make sense now as the scanner I have when looking at the SRS system has an option for quick erase, which turns off the light and clears the codes and retests cleared as long as the ignition stays on, but the minute I turn the ignition off and then on again, there are the codes!

So it looks as though I am going to have no choice but to find someone who knows how to troubleshoot and correct the issue.
