Sun Roof Issue

It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood yesterday. I decided to open the sun roof and let some light in. when I got home I pushed the button to close it. The bug catcher or air dam - what ever you call that thing that pops up when the sun roof opens - didn't go down correctly and the sun roof broke it. Anyone have an idea of how much that part will cost to get fixed? or is it even worth the trouble. It's not under warranty any more.

Great info ChevyMgr!!!!

You know that thread scares the life out of me..... So many fixes for so many things.

Other than just pushing back the sunvisor, I have not even tried using my sunroof. Maybe I should to see if it works........

Check the second thread ChevyMgr posted, it appears that there was a service notice put out on this. I don't know if that means you pay for it...

If it is out of warranty, then it is out of pocket for the fix.

Found in another thread...... the cost for this repair is about $600. Don't know if that was before or after the new "fix".

However, if you wanted to replace the net for a visor, here is a how to for that........

next question

ok, so my next question is this - if I decide to go with the plastic air deflector (i'm not a big fan of them), would it be possible to put magnet material on the bottom of it. I would want it to be removeable - so that i can put it on when I want to use the sunroof and take it off while not using it or while going through a car wash. Are they paintable? I might like it more if it were painted the same color as the ride.
