I have a 2006 HHR LT. The problem is that the sunroof won't close. I checked the #10 fuse, it's good. I have power to the control switch. I installed a new switch and it still isn't working. My next item to check is the control module and motor, but wanted to ask if someone may have another suggestion before I remove the headliner for access? Not sure of the control module location, but am guessing that it is near the motor. FYI: I have 7 wires at the plug for the switch. 6 have power, 1 does not (black ground I think). Any suggestions would be most helpful. THANKS!

Thanks for the diagram. Will check the connections at the control module. If it has failed, is there a way I can jump the switch or other to close the sunroof? Can't seem to find a part # for a replacement sunroof control module. Do they often fail? Thanks again!

Why would you jump to a control module failing?
Switches, motors, mechanical linkages are all more likely to fail than solid state devices.
I am not sure how all 6 of the signal wires could be energizes, since the switch sends a ground signal. You are making the common mistake of thinking analog in a digital world. Switches these days are actually "position sensors".

Gotcha. So the plug that connects to the open/close/vent position sensor has power via test light. The fact that it had power seemed to lean toward a position switch failure. Installed a new one, no change. Can I apply 12v to the sunroof motor and close it? Also jumped the plug at the overhead position sensor to see if I could get it to close, but no luck. With my limited knowledge about electrical issues, everything seems to me to lead to the sunroof control module. The sunroof opened fine, just wont close. Lots of rain here in the Pacific Northwest, would like to get the sunroof closed ASAP. Once again, Thanks

Hey Don. Weird things going on here at the site.
I posted my wiring diagram and your's was NOT posted yet. Now I see your post as being put up 10 minutes before mine.
Guess it takes a little longer for things to travel the web lines down to Alabama

On my continuing issue of my 2006 HHR LT sunroof not working (stuck in the open position). I believe my problem is the actuator motor/control module (Part# 22756140). I have removed it from the car. Is it possible to test this unit for operation before I spend $202 for a replacement? If I could get the motor to operate by bypassing the control module, I may possibly be able to close the sunroof as I wait for parts. As a note, the GM dealership says their part #22753214 is the correct one, however it doesn't resemble the original. Suggestions would be much appreciated. FYI: the last 8 digits of my VIN# are 6S508239, Thanks

If I was interested in bypassing the control module, I would look at the wiring diagram. And then apply 12VDC to one pin and ground to the other.
I don't see #22753214 in GoOgle.
You might check eBay the motor is available open box for $72. https://www.ebay.com/itm/22756140-Br...BVk5TA&vxp=mtr

My estimator software and gmpartsoutlet.net says 22743214 is the part.
22756140 Is listed for STS, CTS and Lucerne.
The connectors may be different.
It looks the same to me and is a lot cheaper on eBay.
Here is the test chart for the switch on a CTS, I don't know if they are the same on an HHR.
