Sunroof and Headliner
I just had the headliner fixed last week and it is rattling
AGAIN. This will be the 3rd time this has happened come on people why is this so frigen hard to fix. Is anyone having the same problem who does NOT have a sunroof. With a big hole above my head I'm wondering if it can't handle the crappy velcro they are using around the thing. I love the car but I can't handle rattling in a new vehicle I've had 10 total and some as old as 89's and never have I had this many issues.

Having Dory for just shy of 3 years, I've never experienced this problem. And the roof is opened almost daily, including for 200 miles at a time on the Turnpike.....usually at about 70 mph.
I know you asked for opinions for those w/o the sunroof, but I felt I had to give my .

I have a 08 sunroof HHR without a rattle and haven't heard this to be a problem so my guess is the service tech isn't on the ball. Don't it just po you when they return a car to you without a test drive or a 2 min. test drive. I'd take it back and have a long talk with the service manager and of course I'd want a car to drive since they didn't fix it right the first time.

It really does bother me when they don't fix it right the first time. Last time we did test drive it "before" they fixed it and he said he heard nothing. P**** me off I told him I didn't care I wanted it torn down and fixed because I'm sick of it. They did as I asked and found issues and said they fixed them...hmmmm heard that before.

I feel your pain, I had the same problem with an 07. Took it to the dealer 4 times to get it fixed, they even replaced the entire headliner once, and the mechanic got grease all over it.... back to the dealer again for cleaning.... I was so ticked off at the rattling I traded it in on a SS. So, it wasn't all bad!
The 08 SS isn't rattling, but there are wires or something loose because when I slide back the cover I can hear it hitting something loose.... I am afraid to take it in and start the entire process all over again.

To "coin" a much overused phrase....I feel your pain.
I understand your exasperation, with multiple visits to the dealer for the SAME SERVICE. My opinion...totally unacceptable, especially on easy stuff like your problem.
I suggest a call to the Customer Service Center, phone number is in the back of your Owners Manual, and another attempt by the dealer. But this time, speak with the Service Manager and express your concern regarding the continued visits for THE SAME REPAIR.
You might offer some SUGGESTIONS, such as....if the male and female Velcro strips are parting....then maybe they should press and "wiggle" it more (tests have shown that the more vibration on Velcro, the better it holds).
If one OR the other is separating because of lack of adhesion material, then perhaps some "gorilla" type glue should be used to hold each of the strips to their respective backing.
