Sunroof problem
On an 2008 HHR SS w/factory sunroof the passenger side "J" latch that controls the windscreen broke tonight. It appears to be part of the frame and not a 'replaceable' part. Since I'm planning to get an aftermarket wind deflector anyway, do I really need this windscreen? It was dark by the time I got the sunroof 'fixed' - that is closed - but it looks like there are only a couple of screws holding the windscreen itself on in the front. Can I just remove those screws and unhook the fabric screen (kind of like unhooking and removing wiper blades with a J hook or is there more too it?

without the wind deflector, wind will come in under the roof and headliner and can cause damage. Others have used aftermarket deflectors.

if you get an after market surface mount wind deflector you can remove the mesh deflector. my mesh deflector was not broken but I didn't want to take the chance on it breaking like I've read so many have on this site. I installed the the surface mount and am very pleased with it, now on for 2 1/2 years, no problems even going thru many car washes.
