Question Sunroof question

I had a complete sunroof warranty replacment.
The 1st one would stop from closing if you put your hand up (Safty feature ?), but upon closing somtimes it would just stop have way and re open all buy it self.
my question is : Is there a safty sensor that stops the sunroof from closing to pervent an injury.

The new one will close if blocked or not, So i need a couple of you to open your sunroof, then hit close and carefully and quickly wave your hand in front of it ,to see if it stops.
Thanks in advance.

Tried it...mine does not stop for your arm. I thought, maybe it has a pressure sensor.... Nope. Don't ask me....

No, there is not a safety function to prevent the sunroof from closing, for instance, on a hand.

The problem you describe.......the reversing before closing....is a problem I had 2 days before my warranty expired (36 &/or 36,000). My dealer apparently took care of it. But they had to order a couple of non stock parts. Can't say what they were unless I look up the invoice.

I had/have the same problem and I was told there was a pressure sensor that would reopen it if it hit something when using auto close. I tried this myself and it does not stop when blocked. It sounds like you made out better than I did on the repair, all my dealer would do to fix it was lube the track and the last time I tried to get them to fix it they would not even look and just told me it was normal. I went to another dealer and they did look at it and did something to it that had it working for a little while, but that was in the winter when it was not being used now that it is warm and I am using it on a regular basis it is doing it again (not all the time though). The car is now out of warranty so I guess I am out of luck on ever getting it fixed. The roof will close normally if I do not use the auto close and just hold the button myself.

I'll test that next time my wife sticks her head out up there.

If i put my hand up and give the sunroof a tap , as it's closing it opens back up. it is not a motion sensor , but a presure sensor. check it out.

This sunroof system is not designed to stop when an object is sticks through the opening
