Sway bar locknut

I put new swaybar links on and the drivers side keeps loosening up and making noise. I tried replacing the lock nut but it still comes loose in about a month. Tightening it will work for a while but then it starts up again. Hate to use thread lock on it but about out of ideas. Even the wife has asked what that knocking noise is. I told her the city needs to fix the roads...

Try a lock washer or blue loctite. I torque mine to 60 ft lbs

Try to find a "NYLOCK" nut.

They back off too, just a little farther down the road.

Maybe, you reused the old nut? Some parts are American threads, OEM is Metric.

?

How can the nut possibly be loosening up if it has correct torque? The only reason I can think of is maybe the-ball socket in the link is not rotating as it should but rather its rotating in the sway bar. I would check see if the sway bar hole is enlarged.

which nut is coming loose….at the sway bar or strut?

If it's the wrong nut it won't seat properly even if it seems to fit.

I have no idea if putting a metric nut on an inch part is possible in this case.

He didn't say he torqued it, just that he tightened it.

Possible a wrong part or the hole is wallowed. The stud is not tapered, too small for the hole might happen.

Been out of town for a few days. The nut came with the link, and I didn't use the torque wernch on it. Just tightened it down as tight as possible holding the ball shaft with a pair of needle nose vise grips. Works fine for a few weeks, then comes loose. Gonna try some Blue lock-tite next, just have not been able to do much lately. I don't drive it every day anymore as I am not working so the honey-do list is overflowing....
