Tailgate Groaning

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced creaking and groaning noises in the tailgate. On my HHR I only hear it when turning a corner or going over an approach to driveway or street. It seems to be getting worse. I have had it to the dealer 2 times and they couldn't seem to find it. They insulated the tailgate saying that the metal was thin and it was probably making noise because it was too hollow. I did manage to adjust the stops on each side of the tailgate and it helped for awhile, but it has returned. Any suggestions would help.

Had "sqeeking noise" from our tail gate area. Went to the dealer and they disassambled the rear of the car from the rear seat aft. Put foam on everything they could think of. Put it all back together and I still had some movement noise from the rear. Got out my electerical tape and wrapped the "U" locking thingie that the tail gate latch contacts,to hold tail gate closed. Never have had as much as a "Squeek" from that area. Put tape around the lock U thingie. Should stop problem. I ment to write GM about that. All they would need to do is add a piece of plastic tubing around it.
Good Luck.

Had similar on mine. One visit to dealer was fixed. I experimented a bit before going in. I just popped the tailgate a open (did not lift it up) and drove around some..no noise. I told this to dealer..that helped him find the problem. They just had to adjust the tailgate..no biggie. The little "upside down U" that sticks out of floor/bumper area that the latch catches on, was not aligned str8..they adjusted that and the rubbers on each side of tailgate and it is now silent.
