TC and ESC

I have the same problem on a 2009 HHR 2.4 LT. When I'm sitting with my foot on the brakes sometimes the service esc and traction control light comes on and the car is misfiring bad. If i turn the key off and start the car nack up its fine for a little while. Also when it's misfiring if I give it gas it's like the accelerator is stuck and it idles high. At first it broke down on me on the side of the road. It would turn over but wouldn't start. I got new spark plugs and coil packs. When I replaced the spark plugs the first fron the passenger side was covered in gas. The 2nd was ok and the 3rd and 4th where dark. Looked kind of burned to me. After i did this and several tries the car finally started. I got the car home and parked it. I was scared to drive it thinking it would break down on me again. After 3 weeks I started driving it again and now it's doing what I mentioned in the beginning of this message. Does anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong? I thought maybe it was the computer? I've only had this car a little over a month and it has 170k on it.

I finally got the car up on a lift and found out that both rear hubs had already been changed, I could see where the wires had been spliced. I checked (all good with heat shrink) and taped up the splices then unplugged the bundle connector at the floorboard, cleaned it and plugged it back in. It may not have been connected right, I guess.
No more warnings, no codes. it's been a couple weeks, so far so good.

I know from your description that the Check Engine Light is on. Please go to a local auto parts store and have the OBD2 codes read then post the NUMBERS here.
