If you give us a hint about the problem we could probably help. It takes an electrical arc to damage it. The internet is full of "it must be the scary computer", It very rarely is.

Most likely it’s electrical, like a loose or corroded ground wire.

My situation is this: Key was left on all night weeks ago. No start no crank after that. I watched one video where a guy is using a device (radio frequency or something I believe ) to find a break in a wire or ground. Are these gizmos effective?

Did you recharge the battery, or better yet replace the fully discharged battery?

Donbrew, I knew that was a bad idea asking for just a hint.

Please give logic for connecting dead battery to broken wire or ECM. For that I would think something more is going on like some weird after market installation or incorrect jump starting.

If it is a 2008, I would not be surprised if the fob and TPS don't work the way they should. To fix that you need a dealer to install new firmware.

I guess incorrect jump starting is a possibility although I believe I followed every precaution.

Fob and/or key will probably be my next approach. Can dealer do that without the car?.
