I just changed the thermostat in the wifes 06 2.4 LT with 24k miles. I was giving --- on the DIC then gave a check engine light. The pictures below show the rubber breaking apart. The new thermostat does not have rubber on the operating part of the stat.

Is the replacement stat without the inner rubber seal a AC Delco from the box in the rear of the picture? I replaced one in my '06 about a month ago with one from NAPA that also had the inner rubber seal.

Just wondering for future reference if needed. The original lasted for 84,000 miles so may never need to replace it again.

Yes, the new stat is an AC Delco from the box in the background. Probabaly did not need to, but purchased from dealer just in case there was any questions or issues with future warranty.

Thanx for the info. Got it saved for future ref. that hopefully never need. The first one with the inner rubber seal lasted 84,000 miles so we'll see.
