to the forum!

The throttle position sensor(TPS), is integral to the throttle body on the HHR. Servicing it involves replacing the entire throttle body assembly.

Did you have a CEL illuminated, or codes pulled that lead you to believe your TPS is bad?

Yes, cel is on, code says sensor, seems pretty common in hhr's, most say its a wire problem, need to be re-crimped

The CEL code does not speak, it provides a code number that leads to a generic description that tells the mechanic where to put his finger in the diagnostic tree to start diagnosing. Whatever you think it says, that's not necessarily what it means. Much like a wife at Christmas.

"most say its a wire problem"
Oh that, check the TSB thread. I am pretty sure it's there.

the mechanics "computer" read as a TPS, never said it talked, i am not clueless about cars, just want to know exactly where it is located from someone who has done this already!

Exactly where it is located is within the Throttle Body Assembly itself, it's an integral assembly, the location of the electrical connection is at the lower left in the following photo.

If the Throttle Position Sensor is truly bad, the entire throttle body must be replaced, but it does pay to make sure the electrical connector is fully seated. And to check for problems with the wiring like a loose pin socket in the male end of the connector itself.

my point was: get the number from your mechanic. The OBDII reader does not "read TPS", it rather reads a code number which the lazy mechanic translates into a description i.e. "TPS". The word description means less than nothing to somebody trying to diagnose.

What do you think "integral to the throttle body" means? That was the complete answer to your question in post #2. All of the other posts were aimed at getting information in order to save you time and money. Don't get all offended.
