Throttle stuck--OH MY!

Throttle stuck--OH MY!
I was pulling onto the hiway from an on ramp and had to punch it to jump into an opening in the traffic. Once I hopped into the gap I had to quickly get off the gas....But the throttle release did not drop the rpms.
I had to quickly hit the ignition switch and head for the brim.
I refired the engine, and all seemed well no lights buzzers or bells.
Question is..have any of you folks had this condition.?

Blue Dots
Glad it turned out well. I noticed you have blue dot tail lights but I saw no pictures.

Since these cars are drive by wire, sounds like an electronic anomaly. There should be an error code stored. As Krash suggested, I would sure check for the code. Its not something you want to happen again.

That's why I was Leary about drive by wire and electric steering , I'm sure Toyota is saying what were we thinking? To me its on the same bad idea of going completely paperless. Have they not seen how unreliable electronics and computers can be. Not to mention hackers and viruses, and I have personally experienced more than once that my backups could not be retrieved or became corrupted. And as more and more our cars are connected via satellite and internet I'm waiting for the day there is a report on the news that a hacker or virus somehow caused a bunch of cars to go full throttle. Let's hope that doesn't happen.
Glad your OK.

I've had my floormats catch the pedal on several occasions. I have the GM issued bad weather mats, but the retaining clips were broken in my car when i bought it. Luckily i have had enough time to pull the mat loose before i got close to any other cars. Floor mats can be a major hazard, if not clipped in properly.

Something spooky is going on, I checked to see if I had Toyota floormats
I have an old Ford TurboCoupe that does the same thing, it's caused racing stripes in under garments several times
For you old timers!
Ive got a moon pedal with a toe strap, left over from an old gasser, maybe that's the fix, along with a dead man throttle strap.
I just thought I would say something in case this starts showing up as a common occurrence among the tribe.
