Mine didn't get the foam insulator for the HPFP like yours did. Mine was more like felt-y cardboard-y, it got ditched some time ago.

Mine hasn't had the foam insulator on it for years. You may recall I had a small oil leak at the pump that saturated the foam. Took the foam off and over time the leak has stopped.

This will help seat the rings. Then after a couple heat cycles, start running it under power.
RJ- That does sound sweet. Great job.. I'm thinking an early oil change is scheduled as well.

Yes, 200 miles.

I'm going to tell them that they should make a note on the pages for these engines, that they hold more than 6 qts of oil. I've got nearly 7 in there to fill it. I would have bought 2 more qts of break-in oil if I had known.

Excellent. Happy Engine = long life engine. Filling a fresh built engine for 1st time will take the most oil, after that you never can drain every bit back out. Just saying..

Sounds like you got mostly break in oil in, & maybe a lil regular to top off. That'll work fine. But you already know that.

First oil change today. The Buick regal(actually an LHU engine) that this engine was made for has a 6.3 quart capacity, and that's what it took to refill. The 6-pack from Costco, plus a little more.

Cool RJ- & my youngest sister has a Buick Regal (2013 IIRC) with the 2.0 turbo. They have to put in over 6 qts of full syn in it as well.. That is the ticket. She loves that ride & the power of the engine. (she has a lead foot)..

Make a note on the rad cradle , this engine requires 6.3 quarts of engine oil , with filter.

Just you remember that, and if you sell the SS
