Too many lites
Monday the ETS and traction control lites came on....tuesday the brake lite came on..wed(today) it was in the shop....
If you have these systems..do yourself a favor and check the wire harness that connects into the back of the front hubs!!Apparently the clip that secures the harness is breaking and the wires rub the axle boot and get tore up! The mech says the parts..( which by the way,the whole hub will need to be replaced as they won't let them repair the harness and its a part of the hub).. are on national backorder..hmmmmmmmm...he says there arn't any bulletins out..though thought it strange there are none available..so now I ride around with 3 lites glaring at me ( probly lite language for FIX ME!!")
Says it appears that the harness breaks loose at full wheel lock ( turns) and the new parts will probably come in as an improved version...
Back to driving old school I guess.....................

I have never seen a damaged wiring harness on an HHR. Other models yes but not the HHR. Also we fix these broken wires on other models all the time. I show 1 left front hub bearing replacement in the last 12 months and it was for a roaring noise.
I don't understand them putting you back on the road with the ABS light on. I also don't understand why they didn't repair the wiring at the very least, unless the harness is totally chewed up. If it is repairable, they should of done that as a temporary fix, if they feel a complete hub replacement is necessary.
Have you seen where and to what extent the wiring is damaged?

Seen the wiring..the left side was bare and grounding out..the rt side was rubbed on..you can see where they have been riding on the cv boots...i thought the wiring could be fixed too..actually just a temp wrap and re-secured would probably worker..the tech says they arn't allowed to repair them....the clips broke and let the wiring hang down on top the axles...he actually cut the pigtails off..there are no other problems,,brakes work fine..just not anti-lock .. maybe somebody gave him some bad info....

.and oh yeah..I believe I'm having that vacuum problem discussed elsewhere here..in the am or after the car sits for a long time..the first brake app tends to make the petal jump around..after that its fine...funny thing is..I have a 01 pont sunfire that does the same thing in the am..not temperature related either....and THAt car has ETS which will come on and actually screw with other systems (trans shifts high and hard!!)But will return to normal after you shut down and restart..weird
