traction control, hard shift, camshaft position sensor

Hi All,

I have searched the forum for solutions on this and wanted to know if anyone had an actual 'this is the fix' for this problem. I have an 07 lt2 HHR. After about 30 miles the traction control light comes on and it starts shifting hard. I had the codes read at autozone, the guy told me that it was referring to the camshaft position sensor. - Is this hard to replace, or does anyone have any advice. I would prefer to order the part and do this myself if possible.
Thanks,
Al

I have the exact same problem, but in our 07 HHR there is no code.

We have spent a few hundred dollars with no success.

Since you have a code, its likely that the sensor is your problem.

If you are in the U.S. and have less than 36K miles on the car, then a dealer should work on the car with no cost to you.

Other than that, you are likely to have to start throwing parts at it or take it to a shop and throw $$ at it.

Please let me and everybody else here know if you find the magic cure. Lots of us have that problem, and it has been blamed on everything from dirty sensors contaminated with oil from the air filter to changed intake systems to ...

Wouldn't that be covered under the 100,000 power train warranty?

Knowing what codes would help. I'm guessing we are talking about a 2.4L, is that correct? There are numerous things that will cause the conditions you describe.

The camshaft position sensor takes less than an hour to replace, IF that is the problem.

That is interesting. I seem to be plagued with this T/C problem. Both my HHR and my wifes 99 Saturn have it. My codes have been MAP and MAF sensors (although I replaced both). My wifes came from malicious damage at a dealer (we sued and won, but have not fixed her car). But, her code was for the cams position.

It's throwing a p10 and p11 code. I am fairly certain that means the intake camshaft position sensor - which i am looking to order now. Hopefully I can fix this myself.

Hey CHVYMGR - do you have the procedures on how to replace it? That would be awesome if you do!
