Traction control light always off

Traction control light always off
2009 HHR LT1 2.2L, bought recently.
I was trying to familiarize myself with the car and noticed that pushing the ESC/TCS button did nothing. So I checked the warning lights before starting the engine and sure enough, they all illuminate except for the Stabilitrak/TCS Off warning light (rightmost), it remains dark.
I thought for a while that perhaps the warning light itself may be defective but checking the manual I noticed that pushing the ESC/TCS button should display the TRACTION OFF or ESC OFF message in addition to the warning light but there are no messages on the DIC.
Also, I connected an OBD2 reader and there are no trouble codes that would indicate any problems with the stability control system.
What could be happening? Could a prior owner have done something to the car to result in this behavior? Obviously when snow comes I'll find out if I have a working traction control system but I'm curious if anybody has any ideas what could be going on. I couldn't find any comparable problems on the net.

How about the seat belt light? Do you have a fog light switch?
I'm thinking somebody either unplugged the button or switched the plugs since a few plugs are alike.
To remove the "waterfall" stick your fingers into the AC vents and give a sharp pull, then you can see the back of the switches and lights.

Great suggestion, I seem to remember someone mixed up a connector a long while ago.

I have a fog light switch, it works, and the fog light control lamp works too.
The seatbelt light works as well. I didn't think it was the switch anyway since the traction control light does not turn on after turning the ignition key.
I'll check the fuse box under the hood tomorrow.

Those 4 fuses are fine. Hazard lights work, as well as the green left-right arrow control lights for them.
Thx to everyone trying to help. I guess I'll wait for the winter to test the ABS and traction control and if either doesn't work, I'll just take the car to the shop. If they do work, I'll resign to the fact I don't have a warning light for TC and that I won't be able to turn it off.
