Transmission whining...
#22
I did not see any leaking on either side where output shaft leaves the transmission. However, yesterday when I drove it at higher rates of speed when I turn the wheel left the sound getting significantly louder. I still don't think its the wheel bearing bc the sound comes from more towards the transmission. I have been wrong before.

Yes
it was nice out this morning so I put up on jack and jack stands. The sound is defiantly coming from the passenger side. There is no play to indicate wheel bearing, no clicking at low speed circles and it appears the output shaft is or was leaking at some point. The drivers side is dry. Is this a repair I can do or is it time for a shop or transmission shop?

Depends on your skill level and tools, but yeah you can remove the cv axle and see in the passenger side there isn’t a bearing per se just a stub shaft .
I installed a support bearing kit
These are the directions
This is the kit and seal
it’s for the passenger side only

This is the reason to start a new thread with a new problem. I had to read 3 pages to figure out who and what you are talking about. All I could tell was there is a new reply to a 7 year old thread, that type of reply rarely has anything to do with the original post, except for key words. I tend to ignore them, unless I don't have anything better to do.
At least you didn't take 7 years to return.
Using the engine to spin the front wheels when they are hanging will always cause a strange sound, due to the extreme angles for the CV and tripot. I don't know where you placed the stands.
Oldblue found a kit that replaces the stub shaft sleeve with a better support for the thrust bearing. He is a bit busy lately, probably will be around soon.
There are now replacement axles that eliminate the stub shaft altogether.
I can't find any mention in the shop manual about replacing the thrust bearing or the bushing.
#60 is a "case to final drive bushing"
#2 is the seal

I posted a few minutes ago, yes Detroit axle offers 986M-AX a solid cv axle (no stub shaft or metal cup ) for the passenger side only, I have one only 5 weeks of use, but my seal still leaked, so I installed the aforementioned bearing kit.
dry as a bone now!
