so is there a bearing in there that is causing the noise or is it just the lack fluid from the leaking seal? I’ve changed cv axles before. Would you recommend an installing the new cv axle design and the upgraded kit?

 

The problem is there is no bearing. The kit is a bearing. Look at the ad and directions carefully.

I went ahead and ordered both. Dumb question but what is blue silicone? Do they mean blue RTV?

 

Yes now Permatex does offer a RTV product for automatic transmission fluid compatibility, you could get that , but I followed the directions and used Permatex blue RTV

 

There are a lot of brands that sell the blue RTV, probably from the same factory. It is "high performance".

Thank you. I have 2 gallons of trans fluid on the back seat and the fitzall insert, Detroit axle, trans filter, and trans gasket on order which will hopefully arrive Friday if not Thursday.

I have had to pull the passenger axle twice this year for the axle seal and it is not something I am trying to become a professional doing.

Hopefully this will be the last time I disassemble the passenger side for a while.

Previous 2 owners only put 46k miles on her and she has been my daily driver and short trip vehicle with the dogs since 2022 and is now up to 59k

 

The fitzall kit resolved the leak problem for my transmission, no more leaks.
when you are changing the filter inspect the fluid transfer pipes above the filter for cracks at the flange. And when you’re filling the fluid , only pour 6.5 quarts in the warm up the fluid a short drive around the block, then check the fluid level.
