Well this wouldnt be the first time chevy rotors didnt measure up. My HHR hasnt had a problem but I dont drive it that hard. My camaro and many many others had this problem with factory rotors the 3rd time it happend. Just bought raybestos from autozone not the top of the line or any thing. think it was $90 for all 4, no more warped rotors... And I dont even use a torque wrench on my wheels.

Took it back to the dealers and they are saying rotors or cal. on the car unless the tires are bad. I have had my HHR since the first of June and trouble since the 22 of July it has been to the dealers 5 times now. Is this common? am i going to always have trouble? I Love my HHR it is what I have wanted since they came out but now I am wondering. The dealers are going to try to make me happy even if it means a new car (still love the HHR) so I am wondering if maybe another HHR will be better luck. Any advice cause I am at a lost at this time.
preciousayana - There have been other posts asking this question and for some it's a ligitimate question. As has been said in other posts, most people who are not having trouble with their car, don't bother to post saying that.

Personally I have had good luck with mine, so far. I bought mine on July 29th and have about 2800 miles and I've heard from many others who have had no problems.

i personally believe your troubles in general are the exception, not the norm. The areas you mentioned, air-conditioning/ rotars/ are two of the areas others have had problems.

I guess only you can decide whether it's worth the hastles of the extra trips to the dealer, of course with the hopes that you only have a couple of problem areas, that are fixable.

To anyone who wants to respond:
It's just mho, but it seems like out of the 3,000+ (is that right?) members we have that we could do some kind of poll, quick and to the point, i.e. no lengthy venting w/details, maybe just posting the numbers of (unscheduled repair) trips to the dealerships. ESPECIALLY encouraging people who have had no problems to post their ZEROs. Polls are problematic in and of themselves, but we might be able to get a more accurate take on overall HHR problems, in some rough statistics, which is more than we have now.

If this has already been done, forgive me for going on and on about this. I haven't seen and couldn't find anything that focused on simple numbers of trips or not.

wasnt pressing hard and even the service manager got them to do the same thing. said there is a problem they just dont know what at this point. and they will only give me 15000 trade in for another model that is about a 4500 loss in just 3 months. but in that 3 months they have had my HHR 5 times for one thing or another.

Have you read up on the lemon laws for you state yet? I would start if you haven't.

I know these problems are frustrating, but warped rotors are not that big of deal. Just like loose fuses are pretty easy fix.

Its just the hassle of figuring out what the heck is wrong (good use of internet sites like this one, can help with that). I don't think taking a 5g loss is the solution. Its not going to cost that much to fix the rotors. Just have them turn the rotors see if that fixes it. It will probably happen again if they are turned. At that point just by some good after market rotors and pads.

If they try to charge you for turning them, because brakes are a wear item not under warranty, throw a hissy fit. and if that fails skip turning them and buy good aftermarket rotors now, installed by sombody cheaper than a chevy dealer like midas or amaco that will warranty their brakes.

I wouldn't worry about the little things, don't pay them anything make them make it right, under warranty.

I don`t really consider squeaking brakes a little thing on a new veh.. I don`t know about starting to put aftermarket parts on already either.

I remember what a Pontiac district manager once told me when I was seeing him on a complaint about some irregularities in the paint (white car, had some tiny black specs in a couple of areas)..."you bought a Grand Prix, not a hand made BMW". In other words, yes it is aggravating that you have been back 4 or 5 times, but as someone just said, it is brake rotors, not the end of the world. Let the dealer make things right..you should NOT pay and I bet if you just complain calmly you won't..and then you should be back in business..a heck of alot better than spending another 4500 and who knows if that HHR would be any better anyway??? It is a 19,000 car, not 30000+. You should expect quality, but not perfection..and that is what the warranty and dealers are there for...to ensure some quality.

Shimmy/shake

I recently have noticed my steering wheel vibrates when coming to a hard stop. My HHR only has 4600 miles on it. I am going to have it checked at the next oil change. I, too, was thinking about trading in my HHR and they were only going to give me 15,000.00. I would have been 2,500.00 upside down. (I bought my HHR as a SmartBuy) Ridiculous. I wasn't trading it in because I don't like it, it's that my wife and I were looking to downsize to one car. We sold her car to CarMax. A little less than we wanted but better than paying on a car that sits mostly in the garage. We kept the HHR of course! (Even though she don't like it!)
