Trying to Install Insulator & Bolt for Engine Cover

Hi all. Trying to install an insulator & bolt for my engine cover on a 06 HHR. I bought the needed insulator and bolt but the insulator is too big for the hole. I can get the bolt in the insulator. I'm not sure how to install it from here. Here is where it should go. Right where the hole is in the plastic, the hole for the bolt is under the plastic in the picture. I'll add a picture of the insulator and bolt when I get it. Thanks!

The insulator has an indented ring around the outside does it not? and it's made of rubber? also called a GROMMET

It fits inside the hole, with both sides of the intent on either side of the plastic bracket, THEN install the bolt.
ie: === (rubber grommet) ---- (bracket)

grease!

The bolt is actually a stud, screw it into the metal, then put the grommet on the air cleaner housing, then force the housing onto the studs.

So from my understanding it will fit with some elbow grease? Was trying for a while. I'll have to give it another go.

did you bother to read this?

The "bolt" stays attached to the engine side, the "grommet stays attached to the air cleaner. When the air cleaner is mounted the grommet fits over the "bolt". See the rear mounts, those studs are just short versions of the "bolt". They work the same way.

Correct - just a dab of grease on the inside of the grommet, as well as on the bolt/stud. Press down on the plastic bracket/grommet to seat it properly.

Remember to use white lithium grease or silicone brake slide lube!
