Just an update - we took the HHR into the dealership yesterday for the key problem. They replaced the shifter - no problems.

Hope there's no more trips to the shop with this thing any time soon. We have less than 200 miles of warranty left!

Well I finally got mine back from the dealer this morning. They called yesterday at 5:40 to say it's ready and they close at 6:00. I was pissed that they waited all day to call me. It says that they replaced the lock cylinder and housing. Here's the part #'s if anyone wants them.

It was all under warranty since I've only had my SS for three weeks. I'm glad it's fixed but a little annoyed that they had to keep it 5 days for two little parts. I don't know why they couldn't overnight the part or two day it at least. I can't wait to get the customer satisfaction survey!

If you overnight a part from GM on a Friday you get it on a Monday. And that is if the part is available. In Dallas we have a parts warehouse in Fort Worth which is 30 minutes away. If the order is coming from there we get it the next morning as long as the order is in before 3pm. If not we overnight the part because GM pays for it.

If it is not available for overnight due to no US warehouses having it we wait for the vendor who makes the part to ship it to us which takes about 5 days or longer. But if that was the case you should of been informed by them. Also most places receive parts in the morning. They should of called you the day they got it so you would of known to pick it up before they closed.

Another factor would be what time the vehicle came in on Friday and when did the actual diagnosis occur, so that parts could be ordered.

The car got to the dealer by 11am Friday and was told they would give me call when they could look at it. And that wasn't unitil after 4pm Friday. I paid for the Major Guard protection when I bought it, and totally fogot that I should have been given a loaner or something. I think it covers a rental for $35 a day. Gotta check my paperwork. They didn't even offer a ride in their courtesy van (which is never around).

Also I had it washed and waxed the day before it broke, and then it sat for the 5 days outside. When I got it back it was all dirty, dusty and disgusting. The Pontiac dealer 500 yards down the street, always washed and cleaned my truck when the serviced it. Sorry about the ranting and raving.

bluonyx, you need a new dealer for service! If you are under factory warranty they should of given you a car last Friday since it was not drivable and they weren't going to finish it the same day. That's a call the service manager makes.

Here is a link on when rental cars are provided during the 3/36 factory warranty.
