Update: Outside air temp read problem
#12
To answer your question, yes, the dealer had the BCM's in stock. But that said, it wasn't long before my temp reading freeze appeared again and remained a problem until winter set in (Michigan) and since then it's worked like a charm, even down to below zero readings. This leads me to believe it's a ambient temperature issue given the location of the sensor up inside the wheel well as well as adjacent to the engine compartment.
Based on having had no problems once the outside temps dropped below 40 degrees (since late November around here) I'll be looking for a reappearance of the temp freeze problem as the weather turns warmer over the next couple of months.

Well......it's got to be an ambient temp thing with the sensor. The temps reached an abnormally high 73 degrees today (normal is 40 for this time of year in Michigan) and my outside temp reading was a constant 47 degrees for most of the time I was out and about, then suddenly corrected to 71 on my way home...
Again, my temp readings have been normal since below 40 degree temps set in around the latter part of November.
I have a list of problems that I'll have addressed in a week or so when I take the car in for a 9000 mile oil change that include the temp issue plus a loud squeak when I shove the shifter into Park and an anemic/sick sounding horn - as if the horn button contact is making and breaking when I push on it...
Oh, and my gas mileage has dropped to around 18-20 mph for city driving, down from 23 to 24 I was getting in the first 6 months I had the car...
Tell me again why I bought this thing...

my outside air temp indicator has stuck several times... one time for over 5 hrs. then suddenly jump 20 degrees to what it was supposed to be..
took it to the dealership... they stated they put another sensor on it but since they can't duplicate the situation and they cant find a code.. thats the way it is...
on the way to memphis last week stuck again... well i am on the road cant take it into the dealership..but i called them to let them know....
oil change told them about the sensor sticking again...still cant find any code or duplicat it....
cant seem to get it to a dealership before it starts working again.....
oh yea i know go certain speed for certain time...... but i was driving 85 for over 2 hours... and still stuck 28 degrees lower than the real temp. was.
maybe i was going to fast for it to keep up with me..... yea right....
any suggestions.....
