When I looked up the exhaust manifold on Amazon it showed a gasket for the flex pipe or whatever that part is do I need to order one of those too? Also what about the bolts I was reading that they can be troublesome should I have some extras for just in case? I'll probably be ordering the ones from RockAuto. I also needed to buy some parts for my wife's suburban and I used RockAuto and the discount code here so hopefully the site will get a kickback from it all.

 

The flange gasket can be reused, but they can also get damaged so a new one in hand beats a run to the store. The manifold nuts were really easy on mine. The flange studs are an iffy thing, the nuts are supposed to be replaced since they are squashed. Those studs are expensive, be careful.

You might consider replacing the flex pipe while you have it out. I would avoid the straight ones. Some can be clamped on most need to be welded.

just to update. Since the crack seemed so small I decided to try some JB weld extreme temp. I just got around to being able to work on it and when I took off the heat shield to reach the crack underneath I found this on the top. Jeepers.. I'ma try the JB weld for now and see if it does anything but I really wasn't expecting to see this. If it doesn't hold up I will replace the manifold but just thought I'd share what I found.

 

They are not that expensive! However, be sure to get the correct one there are 2 versions one with a O2 sensor bung one without.

Extra bungs can be closed off with a bolt. Some flex pipe repair kits come with one. It does not matter which position it is I.E.: get a manifold without a bung OK to get a pipe with a bung etc.

There are a lot of choices on Ebay, I just linked 2 at random.

 

Got around to installing the exhaust manifold but the next day my check engine light came back on still saying the same code so I started thinking and got a little paranoid thinking I may have put on the gasket backwards so I got back down there and used my camera on my phone to inspect and saw it look like it was on there correctly but since I really couldn't get my torque wrench down there to apply the proper torque I thought maybe the bolts could be loose so I decided to give it a once-over and retighten on everything down and in doing so I broke one of the bolts. Did I just screw myself? When reading the fuel trims, they still go as far negative as possible but they don't reach that as fast anymore now it's slow. I tried looking around for another week around the flex pipe and everything but I still couldn't find anything
