Violet_hhr,

Your warranty expires on 1/24/2009 or at 36010 miles whichever occurs first and obviously the miles will happen first.

To protect yourself you need to go to a dealership before that mileage happens!!!

You need to take it to them before 10am. If they cannot complete these repairs before closing times that day, they have to provide a rental vehicle to you until the repairs are completed. This is GM's rule for providing substitute transportation. So if they can't fix it in 1 business day they should provide the rental until it is fixed. GM defines a business day as: The customer delivered it to the dealer before 10am and it is not fixed at the end of the day. Now if they had to order parts and the vehicle is safe to drive they may ask you to pick it up. Even if you go past the miles before the part arrives you will still be covered.

With the number of problems you are having you need to put aside at least 30 minutes of your time to make sure all the complaints are written/typed onto a repair order. Most dealers have electronic repair orders so what the service advisor writes down may not exactly match what he types on the computer. Since you are at a critical point in warranty I would wait for him to type it all in and then ask for a copy.

I would take a the mentioned list of repairs to them and let them have a copy of it. Technicians like to read owner notes to make sure that the service advisor correctly documented what the customer needed repairs.

Everything you mentioned should be covered by warranty. But unless I personally saw the vehicle I couldn't guarantee that.

After the repairs, should there be a reason to return for the same repair in a reasonable amount of time, they should still fix it, even though the warranty has expired, since it is now documented.

I hope this helps and good luck!

I posted the TSB for the radio pop in your other thread. I need to say that there is additional TSB's for the AM and FM weak signal problem. Not sure if the "pop" update will automatically take care of the additional radio problems. So mention additional TSB's to your service writer and assure he writes it on the work order.

Your "clunking or rattling" sound COULD be either one, or both of the following.....

TSB # 05-02-32-005D, Clunk Noise in Steering System at Low Speeds
TSB #07-02-35-004, Rattle and/or Knocking at Low Speeds.

Good Luck....and hope this helps.

Wow, you guys are all so nice and helpful. I just love this board!

Thank you all so much! It's so much easier as a woman to be able to walk in with all the information I need so that I can make sure it's all taken care of. This way, I KNOW what's what and can advocate for myself and Violet. She's such a good little car overall and I just want to make sure she's going to live a long healthy life.

Having the TSBs to refer to is golden.

Violet HHR,

I am having the same noise problem when I go over bumps and when the weather is cooler. My '08 HHR SS only has 1300 miles on it. What parts did they replace? What dealership did the work so I can refer to this when I talk to my dealership. They have not been able to isolate the problem. Thanks for your help.

I think if there is an update for the radio to be programmed in to the car, it should be done FREE, as there is nothing the owner could do to cause the problem. If it is a KNOWN GM issue, mileage/age should have nothing to do with whether or not the repair is free.

I would be disgusted with GM if there was a known electrical problem with the car's sound system, and they'd only repair it free if you had a warranty.

I LOVE the HHR...but I am growing very sick of GM's mannerisms.
Only safety recalls are required to be covered after warranty expiration. Using your logic, since my 13-year-old TV has a failing tuner because the manufacturer used defective Chinese espionage capacitors, does that mean I should go beating down GE's door for a new TV?

Question Ok, this is RANDOM...

So tonight I'm unloading things from my cargo area, nothing of value but I still don't like to leave anything in a car I'm taking to a dealership. Anyway, I notice that something looks "off." I finally figure out that there is a black rubber thing missing. It is the plug where one of the bolts should be that holds the spoiler on. Not only is the plug missing, the bolt is missing. I gently pulled on the spoiler and sure enough it's not attached on the passenger side! So I'll be adding that to the list.

But how in the heck did that happen??? Seriously.
