Water leak - Drivers side near hood release
Have had a water leak problem for about a year - no local shop has been able to repair it. The carpet on the driver's side under the dash and almost directly under the hood release becomes wet after every rain. It spreads from there. Afraid if this keeps up I am going to have a rust problem. All the shops I've been to have said the sun roof drain isn't the problem. Any ideas?

get the hose out and spray some water on your windshield, try the "hard" settings also to simulate different rain patterns. Might be a seal around the windsheild, also could be the from the blower motor or cowl. Many threads on this fix, use the search above for "butyl patch" or "butyl repair" ,something along those lines, and u will find lots of info :)

Let me correct skyline's response. The butyl patch and blower motor problem is on the right side(passenger). I don't think this will be the problem. The OP stated his leak was on the drivers side.
Besides that, the OP shows he has a 2010 model which doesn't have the butyl patch.
The 3 places to look are windshield seal, sunroof drain hoses and where the wire harness/grommet passes through the A pillar of the drivers door area.

2 year old thread scuba.
Besides that, Sno White hasn't logged onto this site in several months.
Fwiw. He was just referring to the grommet being "seated" all the way flush into the A pillar hole.
If you think you have a grommet not seated and leaking water, just look at the other side of the car and compare how that grommet is.
